I engage in three basic forms of creative writing - haibun, haiku, and a small amount of free verse.

I participate in the writing of Haibun with the express goal of learning to write more succinctly. Writing of Haibun also hones the ability to write clear descriptions of natural events. In order to find material to write about, I am motivated to pay better attention to my environment, daily moments, and memories. I invite you to share some of those moments and memories with me.

What Is Haibun?

On my better days, I manage to mentally compose haiku as I walk my dog through the streets, parks, fields, and forests of Victoria B.C. In some cases, they stick with me enough that I am able to present them here. In addition, I have participated in a haiku writer's workgroup where we practice in pursuit of a better understanding of this art form.
